In Eastern Body, Western Mind, chakra authority Anodea Judith brought a fresh approach to the yoga-based Eastern chakra system, adapting it to the Western. When I was doing my hour yoga teacher training, Eastern Body, Western Mind by Anodea Judith was required reading. I’m really into.

There is more here for me and I am grateful to the friend who directed me to this book. Easily accessible while dealing with profund spiritual and psyhcological matters, Anodea Judith’s revised edition is still a life changer.

To me, reading can be relaxing, enjoyable, entertaining and educational. Not only is this book beautifully written, but Anodea manages to pull off what is seemingly impossible in one book by bringing in Jungian psychology, somatic therapy, etc.

It is as difficult to reduce this book to a short review as it is to try and explain how the chakras work. I mean, sure, there’s some woo-woo in there, especially in the “exercises,” but if you’re borderline woo-woo, like me, as in you prefer Jung to Freud and yoga to painkillers, then you might just disco Imagine my horror. A hy book for Western Yoga practitioners with a critical view of the world – it helps you understand the connection between Eastern spirituality and Western psychology. Each chapter focuses on a single chakra, starting with a description of its characteristics, then exploring its particular childhood developmental patterns, traumas and abuses, and how to heal and maintain balance.

Let me be totally honest, I thought this book would be a bunch of hooey, but as a yogi I felt it was important to learn about the Chakra system. So wise and well articulated and well organized. It covers material in nearly every other book out there that I’ve read so far which is possibly too many — plus has given several insights and references to other books and areas I’m not as aware of. Chock full of information about eastern medicine. I’ve read a LOT of New Agey chakra books and a good deal of Western psychology studies, but this book is truly unique in its synthesis of the two.

Anodea Judith Limited preview – Fascinating information, but most importantly, healing information!

This is a wonderful book for thinking about it. This is also an excellent resource for any parent curious about each childhood development phase. Underlying almost any behavior or tendency, positive or negative, you might witness in your life or those around you, basically has an underlying energy pattern that can be traced to one or several of your chakras and the way they might interact and compensate or overcompensate f Excellent book. If the author hadn’t layered in other disciplines, I’m not sure the chakra system would be something I’d even consider on it’s own.

Books by Anodea Judith. She… More about Anodea Judith. Previous edition has sold more than 55, copies. I have been exploring dreams and dreaming and the level of consciousness to which that leads that is not of mind but more pointedly for me derived from some other place. But having been plagued with a feeling that ‘something is wrong’ for the last year or so, I was led right to it.

Each chapter describes what each chakra will look like in excess, anodeea I can’t get over how great this book was. I think this is a great resource for anyone, as the ideas in it are truly universal.
