AARL Carbon Stripping System Operation: Elution & Electrowinning
Acid washing is currently being done both in a separate vessel from the stripping column and in the elution vessel. After reagent addition, valve AV closes and the elution water pump recirculates the solution in the column by pumping it via the heat exchanger and valve AV up through the column and out through valve AV back to the water pump.

It is much qarl expensive to operate and it produces a cleaner stripped carbon. At the end of the carbon cool stage, water is pumped into the column via valve AV so as to maintain pressure within it and force the barren carbon out of the column via valve AV into the carbon transfer line.
Likewise it should be remembered that the controllers will not operate if a local stop switch is depressed. The barren solution is then pumped out of the eluate tank into the process water tank. Acid washing is used with all of the other stripping systems, but it is mentioned specifically with the AARL procedure, because AARL systems generally use the stripping vessel to acid wash and acid washing rlution, therefore, controlled as part of the qarl sequence.
